Dr. Keshavarzi is a board certified neurosurgeon that has demonstrated excellence in surgical techniques and overall patient care. Truly invested in the lives of his patients in and outside of the clinic and hospital setting, Dr. Keshavarzi works with patients and an expansive team of professionals to find the best solutions available to achieve the quality of life his patients deserve. He is committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive care of patients suffering from diseases of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system, including brain tumors, aneurysms, epilepsy, movement disorders and spinal disease and injury.

Dr. Keshavarzi has been providing care for both neurological and spinal disorders, traumas, and ailments for over 10 years and has performed hundreds brain and spine operations. He specializes in patients of every age, child and adult alike. He has a particular passion for challenging cases and has also been actively involved in offering his expertise around the world in developing nations on medical missions providing much needed surgical treatment to children particularly suffering from severe deformities and scoliosis.

Prior to moving his expertise to Bakersfield, California to launch his private practice, California Brain and Spine Institute, Dr. Keshavarzi was Chair for the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, FL. There he played an integral role in the recent years of success of the largest neurosurgical practice in Northeast Florida. Dr. Keshavarzi has also written more than 20 peer-reviewed articles, and co-authored several book chapters. Dr. Keshavarzi has given over 60 presentations at national and international meetings.

Meet Dr. Sassan Keshavarzi

Dr. Keshavarzi is a board certified and fellowship trained neurosurgeon. Prior to moving his expertise to southern California to launch the California Brain and Spine Institute, Dr. Keshavarzi was Chair for the Department of Neurosurgery and Medical Director of the Spine Institute at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, FL. Leading a team of 11 neurosurgeons, 10 mid-level providers, and office staff over 40 people. He was the only complex spine surgeon at a level 1 trauma surgeon serving a patient population of 1-2 million people. There he played an integral role in the recent years of success of the largest neurosurgical practice in Northeast Florida. Dr. Keshavarzi has also written many peer-reviewed articles, co-authored book chapters and lectured internationally.

With a sub specialization in complex reconstructive spine surgery as well as adult/pediatric scoliosis. He works with a diverse team including neurologists, pain management and physical therapists to find the best solutions for his patients. He is committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive care for patients suffering from neurological disorders, presenting patient with both conservative as well as surgical options. Although surgery is always the very last option he offers both minimally invasive as well open reconstructive surgeries. He has a passion for pediatric and adult patients with scoliosis, spinal tumors, traumatic fractures of the spine and degenerative disease.
